Cedar Point Tips

If it’s your first time going to Cedar Point, these tips can make or break your visit to the America’s Roller Coast. If you do’t do your research before hand you can be wasting your time in lines the whole day and won’t be able to ride on everything that you want. These tips will cut your wait time in half.

Season Pass/Tickets

Always buy your tickets online at cedarpoint.com ahead of time instead of buying your tickets at the gate. The reason being is that it will always be cheaper online and there’s a lot of bundles that can help you save money.

If you plan on staying for multiple days and/or going to Cedar Point’s water park, Cedar Point Shores, then I suggest you to buy one of their season passes. Make sure you read the different perks of each pass so you buy the right pass.

Picking The Right Hotel

There is plenty of cheap good hotels in the Sandusky area that you can stay at that’s a short drive to Cedar Point. Cedar point also has plenty of options for all price ranges that gives you great perks including early entry.

Off The Peninsula

The cheapest Cedar Point hotel is called Cedar Point’s Express hotel. This hotel is perfect for people on a budget wile still getting all of the perks that the other hotels gives you.

Cedar Point also has Sawmill Creek which is a lodge style resort. The main thing about Sawmill Creek that attracts people is the 18 hole golf course. So if you or another person in your group wants to play golf, this is perfect for you.

The last hotel that is off the Cedar Point’s peninsula is Castaway bay. Castaway Bay is known for it’s kid friendly indoor water park. So if your group has kids, the would be a great option.

On The Peninsula

If you want to be right on the beach then Hotel Breakers is for you. Hotel breakers has everything that you would want. You have views and access to the beach, both indoor and outdoor pools, huge fire places outside, restaurants inside the hotel and a very short walk to Cedar Point.

The last Cedar Point hotel is Lighthouse Point. Lighthouse Point is an award winning campground featuring cottages, cabins and RV sites. This is perfect if you have a large group of people because you can fit 6-10 people in a cabin.

Picking The Right Attire

Wear comfortable shoes because Cedar Point is 364 acres so you’ll be walking a lot. Also check the weather to see how warm it’s going to be. Remember, Cedar Point is on a peninsula on Lake Erie, so it’s probably going to be windy.

You should wear something small like a fanny pack to put your things in instead of a backpack or pants/shorts with zipped pockets on them. The reason being is because Cedar Point doesn’t let you leave your stuff on the platform, so you’ll need to pay for a locker before you enter the line. The only two rides that don’t let you bring anything on is Steel Vengeance. If you are carrying things that are small then you’ll be able to take your stuff in line and put it in their free lockers. You do have to purchase a locker before you get in line for Top Thrill 2 though.

Play Games and Shop On Your Way Out

This tip is for numerous reasons. Just like the last tip, you will need to pay for a locker because you can’t leave anything on the ride platform. The other reason is why would you want to carry something around the whole day?

Fast Lane Plus

This is a super obvious tip but doesn’t make it wrong. Cedar Point is the most visited seasonal amusement park in the US so most days are going to be very busy. If you have enough money to spend then I would highly suggest to splurge on the fast lane plus which cost $120 . The fast lane plus will allow you to skip through all the other tips. It will allow you to relax and still ride everything that you want multiple times even on a busy weekend.

Buy A Drink Plan

It’s always very important to hydrated but even more so when you’re out in the sun and heat all day. That is why you need a drink plan. With a drink plan you can get a free refill every 15 minutes. The drink plan also gives you a choice between a souvenir bottle or a drink wristband where they give you a paper cup. Always pick the paper cup. if you’re going for multiple days then I suggest you buy a season long drink plan. If you have extra money to spend then I suggest the drink plan+ which includes free refills every 15 minutes of not only fountain beverages but also ICEEs, hot chocolate and coffee.

Picking The Right Day

If you can, go on a weekday, preferability Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The middle of the week will always be the least busy and best days to go on. Monday and Friday are still great days to go on but there might be more people there because how close it is to the weekend and some people only want to take one day off work. If you have to go on a weekend, always pick Sunday.

Best Ride Riding Strategy

  1. Park at the back in Cedar point Shores’ parking lot
  2. Go to Top Thrill 2
  3. Go to Steel Vengeance
  4. Go to Maverick
  5. Go to Millennium Force
  6. Go to Valravn

The rest of the rides won’t have as long of a wait as those so feel free to roam around and go to any ride you want. Just don’t forget to do Cedar Point’s amazing group of flat rides.
